Chris’s Paleo Success
Categories: Nutrition, Workout of the Day
posted by: Sean
Chris joined the Intrepid crew in July and has been hitting the 7pm workouts hard like it’s his job. Chris recently moved to LA from Dayton, Ohio where he was a member of CrossFit Wright-Patt. While at CrossFit Wright-Patt he took part in a Paleo challenge similar to the one we just finished here at Intrepid. He shared some of his amazing results with the Intrepid coaching staff, and with his permission he allowed us to share his success with all you Intrepid blog readers.
Chris began his Paleo journey on Feb 5, 2010 documenting his baseline body mass using the Bod Pod which accurately measures lean mass versus fat mass. His profile is as follows:
Fat Weight: 34.2 lbs (20.2%)
Lean Weight: 135.0 lbs (79.8%)
Total Weight: 169.2 lbs
Waist Measurement: 34.5 inches
A little over 2 months on the Paleo diet, Chris retested himself using the Bod Pod on April 16, 2010, and his profile looked like this:
Fat Weight: 22.6 lbs (14.3%) -11.6 lbs
Lean Weight: 135.1 lbs (85.7%) +0.1 lbs
Total Weight: 157.7 lbs -11.5 lbs
Waist Measurement: 32.0 inches -2.5 inches
As Kelly Starrett would say, “I’m no doctor, but…” the results speak for themselves. Chris’s dedication to the Paleo diet plus in addition to his CrossFit workouts helped him slightly improve his lean body mass while helping him lose over 11 pounds of fat and 2 and a half inches off his waist! Nicely done, Chris!
I know many of you may have had similar experiences losing weight, gaining muscle, and/or improving overall health via Paleo and CrossFit. If you’d like to share your success story please email one of the Intrepid coaches and we’ll try to share it with everyone.
