Intrepid Weightlifting Club
posted by: Sean
By now you’ve probably heard the rumblings in various posts and around the gym or you may have even stumbled across the Facebook site, but the Intrepid Weightlifting Club (WLC) is in full effect beginning this week. Our club became sanctioned with USA Weightlifting back in December and the service will be available for athletes wanting to Olympic lift competitively. Right now we’re offering two sessions per week where the gym will be dedicated to Oly Lifting on Thursday from 4-6pm and on Saturday from 11am-1pm. Get in the habit of checking the schedule for the most current workout times.
So what does this mean for you? Well, if you find yourself enjoying the Snatch and Clean & Jerk movements we incorporate into the CrossFit WODs and want to specialize more in Weightlifting then let Ruth or I know. We’ll talk more about your goals and seriousness to this endeavor as well as provide you with an assessment of your current Snatch, Clean, and Jerk technique. Luckily there are a plethora of local meets (about 1 per month) on the horizon so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to challenge yourself in a competition environment. Ruth and I are still working on the rates to train but trust me when I say they’ll be reasonable, especially if you’re already paying for an Unlimited Monthly Membership for our CrossFit classes. In the near future you may notice Kilogram bumper plates, fancy lifting bars, and platforms around the gym. Don’t be skeered, embrace it and become part of the Intrepid WLC!

Kilo-what? Don’t bring that crazy commi stuff into our gym. I’m an American! I want to lift weights in measurements that 95% of the world left behind in the middle ages.
….Or better yet, can we get bumper plates in “stone”? I love watching rugby games were they announce that players are 15 Stone! It sounds tougher!

Pass your mouse over the picture above….the mouse-over (caption) reads “Avelyne Clean”. I want to see the picture labeled “Avelyne Dirty”!
