Giving Thanks and Remembering

According to Wikipedia, Memorial Day (formerly known as Decoration Day) is a holiday that honors US soldiers who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union and Confederate soldiers following the American Civil War, it was extended after World War I to honor Americans who have died in all wars. CrossFit honors soldiers and police/fire personnel who have been killed in the line of duty with Hero WODs. These WODs are often incorporated the favorite movements/lifts of the fallen soldiers’.
We do these workouts not just to experience terrible workouts, but to honor their memories and their families. Every time we gut through WODs such as DT, Murph, JT, and Danny, we remember what they sacrificed and how many are still sacrificing so that we can live in freedom and liberty. So the next time you encounter a Hero WOD (ahem, tomorrow), pause before you complain about the difficulty of the movements or the high number of reps. Instead, take a solemn moment to pay respect to a fallen hero and honor his memory by giving your all to the workout.
And many thanks to the Intrepids and Intrepid family members that have or are serving our country: Sean R., Tom, Chris, Jason R., Wendi, Matt M. (Keron’s brother), Dustin, Sean N., Nick R., Krysta (Jenna’s sis), Monty, Mr. Champagne, Susan’s son, and Arvin.

I wasn’t going to ask about this yet, but I guess the event is filling up really fast. Is anyone interested in doing a team crossfit competition with me? The teams are 2 girls and 2 guys and it’s July 9th.
Here’s a link to the movements: http://tri-countyshakedown.com/?page_id=25
Shoot me an email if you’re interested [email protected]

Ruth’s a bit modest but add her to the list as well of those to thank for service to their country/community.
