Today is a special day. Our good friend and long time Intrepid member, Brian, turns another year younger (at least he thinks he does). In celebration of his birthday, his two man-crushes, Jake and myself, have a few words to write.

Nick’s Sentiments

Much like Jake, my friendship with Brian started with a few cheers in a WOD and quickly escalated to being practically neighbors with him. I spend an unnatural amount of time with him these days watching Family Guy, drinking completely non-alcoholic drinks, and singing Carly Rae Jepsen. There are a few things that sum up the last year for Brian:

• Big year for Brian: getting married, competing in several competitions, but most importantly he has chosen his favorite: me (kidding)
• His ability to make a party of any situation as long as Call Me Maybe is blaring
• Can quote any family guy episode on demand (try it)
• Secretly turned me into a closet craps addict in Vegas
• Can lift twice as much as me
• Is a Singstar PRO – just call him Adele

Brian is honestly one of the nicest guys I have ever met…although he seems like a tough competitor, it is just a cover.

Jake’s Sentiments

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Brian since I started Crossfit back in 2009. He has been a great friend through the years and I’d like to say we have a solid friendship. To be honest if we had a “friendship” scale it would start from acquaintances, semi-friends, friends, competitors and now starting to lean towards mortal enemies. I am pretty sure Nick is turning him against me. But I’d like to think he’d rather hang out with me than Nick and possibly Anna (kidding). To add on to Nick’s list, here are a few more items that you may or may not know of Brian’s awesomeness.

• Big year for him, getting married, competing in several comp’s, but most importantly he has chosen his favorite: me (NOT kidding)
• Although I haven’t seen/heard him rock the mic on Singstar I can tell you that I have seen Brian put on a killer performance on Rock Band with his rendition of “Here I Go Again” by White Snake
• Brian is the fastest eater I know. He’ll be completely done with his meal while Anna is just working on her first one or two bites…and then will proceed to finish her plate
• The dude can cook. Anna and Brian each made me their own “perfect” omelets. I will say Brian scored a 20 out of 10. Sorry Anna!
• He is one hell of a competitor/motivator. On daily a basis I strive to be on his level.

And I will agree with Nick that Brian is the nicest gut that I have ever met. He is always there to lend a hand and never expects anything in return (unless it’s a Costco sized Jack Daniels..kidding…kind of).
